SFTPPlus is distributed as a self-extracting installation program for Windows systems and as a GZIP'ed TAR archive for Linux and macOS systems.

All packages bundle upstream OpenSSL libraries for cryptographic operations. Keep your SFTPPlus installations updated to benefit from our security updates.

Windows

The self-extracting installation program for Windows systems is self-contained and does not require any other components to be installed.

Windows x64
Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows 2016 Server, Windows 2019 Server, Windows 2022 Server running on the 64-bit PC architecture.

Windows CLI package for automatic deployments

The ZIP archive for Windows is to be used on Server Core setups, installations without the Desktop Experience option. It is also the best way to integrate with automated deployment and provisioning tools.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and 8 on x86_64

These packages are the generic Linux SFTPPlus packages. On RHEL 9, the libxcrypt-compat RPM package is required.

Ubuntu Server 24.04, 22.04, 20.04, 18.04 LTS on x86_64

These packages are the generic Linux SFTPPlus packages.

Amazon Linux 2023 and 2 on x86_64

These packages are the generic Linux SFTPPlus packages. On Amazon Linux 2023, the libxcrypt-compat RPM package is required. Amazon Linux 2022 has been renamed upstream as Amazon Linux 2023.

Trial versions of SFTPPlus as Docker images, valid for 100 days after the release date.

Alpine Linux 3.13 or newer on x86_64

Provided musl 1.2.2 or newer is available, other musl-based Linux distributions should work, but are not supported. Automatic testing is performed on Alpine Linux 3.16. Contact us if you need support for other hardware architectures or for different versions of Alpine.

Generic Linux

These are generic Linux packages for glibc-based distributions on 64bit x86 and ARM architectures. Contact us if you need support for other hardware architectures or for specific Linux distributions. The basic requirement is glibc version 2.26 or newer. Latest distributions, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and Amazon Linux 2023, also require the libxcrypt-compat package.

macOS 11 Big Sur or later on Apple Silicon

New Features

Self-extractable installers are now available for Linux and macOS. The tar.gz archives continue to be available for these operating systems. [#6197]
Self-extractable installers can now be used to update an already existing installation of SFTPPlus. [#6973]
Any server-side account password that is stored in the legacy plain text format is now automatically converted at startup into a secure hash format. [server-side][security] [#6968]

Defect Fixes

When using the SFTP protocol with support for blocking filesystems together with operating system accounts, the main SFTPPlus process is no longer kept in the security context of an OS account for which the filesystem access was delayed by the operating system. [server-side][sftp] [#6816]
For SFTPPlus installations on filesystems which make use of Access Control Lists (ACLs) of files and directories, as set with setfacl(1), using the scripts in bin/ now scrubs the extended permissions not only when installing, but also when updating and rolling back. [#6952]
When an user, that has an active Purview API session, logs out, SFTPPlus will only logout the Purview API session associated with the current web browser. In previous version, when an user was logged out, or a session expired, all Purview API sessions from all active browsers were logged out. [server-side][purview] [#6983]

Deprecations and Removals

The event with ID 20069 was removed. This event was emitted at SFTPPlus start time and was informing that the process is not running as root. This functionality was replaced with event 20008 which is now emitted when SFTPPlus is running as root. [#6816]
