AS2, which stands for Applicability Statement 2, is a standard used to securely send and receive files over private networks or public networks.
The AS2 standard is built using S/MIME format and files can be compressed, signed, and encrypted. The files that are transferred over AS2 are referred as "messages". The network data transfer is done using the HTTP protocol.

AS2 is widely used for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in a large variety of industries including Manufacturing, Retail, CPG and Logistics etc.
SFTPPlus is a standalone software that can be used to implement your own AS2 server and exchange files over AS2 messages to any standard 3rd party AS2 server.
Any modern version of Linux like Red Hat, Ubuntu or Amazon Linux are supported. Windows Server 2016 or newer are also supported. For macOS, a version newer than macOS 11 is required.
Available AS2 features
SFTPPlus is a Drummond Certified product. This guarantees a high degree of security assurance and compatibility with other applications that support the AS2 file transfer protocol.
Files can be transferred over HTTPS or HTTP, with or without HTTP basic authentication and with or without TLS mutual authentication.
Once an AS2 file is receive, the SFTPPlus software can automatically send a confirmation using the standard MDN receipt process using both synchronous or asynchronous responses.
Any AS2 file transfer action is logged to help audit the full process. The audit information includes the size and name of the file, the security and encryption used for the transfer, certificates used for the file transport and certificates used to sign or encrypt the file.
